We definitely have Wealth Beyond Measure, but what a fun activity to actually try to name and count it!

We know how easy it is to get caught up with all the challenges of life. Some days it can seem that we have more hardships than positives. If we help our little ones to routinely be able to look around and inside themselves and see their blessings, that will give them a perspective that will enrich their lives. Not only will they be happier by seeing the positives, they’re likely to manifest MORE positive things in their life.

The hands-on part is relatively easy. Choose to either do coins or colorful gems.

Do you have silver or gold crayons or makers? If so, cut out paper into circles (a little thick if you have it). If not, go with colored paper and cut them in the shapes of gems: rubies, sapphires, emeralds. They don’t have to be perfect. Make sure you leave room to write on them.

Why don’t you go first?

Name something in your life that you’re grateful for. You might start by naming the little person in front of you! While you write their name, you can tell them all the things you love about them and how they make you feel. Let them know that your life is enriched because of them.

Help them write names of people that they are grateful for on the gems. Talk about the qualities that they appreciate in these people. (Grandma is patient. Dad is funny. etc) Start collecting them in a special box (like a treasure chest).

You can look around the room, name toys, stuffed animals, children’s books that they love. But then, dig a little deeper. Look outside. The sun warms us, the plants give us beauty and clean air. Go beyond “things and people.” Can they read? Are they grateful for that? Are they healthy? Are they kind?

Watch as their eyes start to see things differently. There are SO many blessings. The box is filling up!

Gratitude is a mindset that we can carry through our lives. It keeps us from feeling sorry for ourselves and letting that make us feel defeated. Gratitude reminds us of God’s love for us and encourages us to pay it forward and make things better for others.

How lucky we are to have Wealth Beyond Measure!
